Erling Haaland Breaks Record of Liverpool and Man United Stars with CL Goal vs Bayern Munich

Date:

Manchester City’s Erling Haaland has set a new record for the most goals scored in a single season for a top-flight club in the Premier League era. The Norwegian striker scored his 45th goal of the season during City’s Champions League match against Bayern Munich, putting his team in a commanding 3-0 lead. Haaland volleyed the ball home from close range after being set up by John Stones’ header at the Etihad Stadium.

Haaland’s two goals against Southampton last weekend put him level with previous record holders Mohamed Salah and Ruud van Nistelrooy, who achieved the feat for Liverpool (2017/18) and Manchester United (2002/03) respectively. However, Haaland is now out on his own and City still have a minimum of 11 matches left to play this season – 15 if they reach the FA Cup and Champions League finals.

City’s victory against Bayern Munich was secured by a stunning strike from Rodri and a header from Bernardo Silva, putting Pep Guardiola’s men two goals up and looking good to complete the job in Bavaria on April 19. Bayern have struggled to keep up with City throughout the match.

Haaland has been in sensational form this season, scoring 33 goals in 31 appearances for Borussia Dortmund before his move to Manchester City. He has continued his impressive run of form since joining the Premier League club, scoring 12 goals in just 11 appearances.

The 20-year-old striker has been linked with a move to several top clubs across Europe, including Real Madrid, Barcelona and Manchester United. However, City are said to be confident of keeping hold of their star player, with Guardiola reportedly keen to build his team around Haaland.

Haaland’s record-breaking season has cemented his status as one of the best young players in world football. He has already won the Golden Boy award, which is given to the best young player in Europe, and is widely regarded as a future Ballon d’Or winner.

Haaland’s incredible goal-scoring record has also helped Manchester City to the top of the Premier League table, with Guardiola’s side currently 14 points clear of second-placed Manchester United. City are also through to the quarter-finals of the Champions League, where they will face Borussia Dortmund.

City’s dominance this season has been built on a solid defence, with the team conceding just 21 goals in 30 Premier League matches. However, it is their attacking prowess that has really caught the eye, with City scoring 65 goals in the league so far this season.

Haaland has been instrumental in City’s success this season, but Guardiola’s side have also benefited from the contributions of other key players such as Kevin De Bruyne, Ilkay Gundogan and Riyad Mahrez. The team’s impressive form has put them in a strong position to win their third Premier League title in four years, as well as potentially winning the FA Cup and Champions League.

In conclusion, Erling Haaland has set a new record for the most goals scored in a single season for a top-flight club in the Premier League era. The Norwegian striker’s incredible form has helped Manchester City to the top of the Premier League table and through to the quarter-finals of the Champions League. Haaland’s performances have also cemented his status as one of the best young players in world football and a future Ballon d’Or winner.
