Erling Haaland and Jack Grealish’s bromance blossoms on and off the pitch from price tag banter to lethal connection as Man City fans get a glimpse of what’s to come in 2022/23 season

Manchester City fans got a glimpse of what is to come as Erling Haaland and Jack Grealish combined in a friendly victory over Bayern Munich.

Grealish put the ball exactly where the striker wanted it to make sure that Haaland could not miss in what was his first goal in a City shirt.

It was just 12 minutes into his first appearance for the club and was perhaps a sign of things to come.

Grealish, who cost City £100million from Aston Villa last summer, could barely contain his delight at setting up his new teammate.

In a video showing the pair walking down the tunnel at Lambeau Field, the England international says: “I told you.”

Haaland: “Exactly, these balls are what I like.”

Grealish: “Hey Kal [Kalvin Phillips], I said to him before the game I will go down the line.”

And that’s exactly what he did and City fans will hope that partnership will continue to blossom on the pitch.

After the game, Haaland said: “He [Grealish] is good, but he has to get better. I have to get better. Good link, I like the vibe around him. It’s going to be fun.”

The pair have been quick to strike up a friendship both on and off the pitch and have been regularly seen spending time together during the club’s pre-season tour of the United States.

Grealish even revealed that Haaland has joked about his £100m price tag.

“Erling’s looked good in training and once he reaches full fitness will be unstoppable,” Grealish said.

”I can’t wait to play with him and I’m really looking forward to it. He is a great guy, a brilliant guy. The first day that I met him we took a car together and even after that ride I thought, ‘what a guy’.”

He continued: “He’s so down to earth and quite up front with the way he is. You get used to that. He actually said to me, ‘I’m only half the price of you so I haven’t got the pressure’. Obviously it’s always going to be big expectations but nowadays you have to deal with it.

“I suppose if he misses a chance or whatever then people are always going to have something to say. I’ve had to get used to it myself.”

Grealish also posted a video on social media where he forced Haaland to get up and make a speech in front of his teammates because it was his birthday.

City fans will hope both can help drive each other on and get the best out of one another as they try to defend their Premier League title and enjoy success in Europe.

First up will be against Liverpool in Saturday’s Community Shield, which is being held at the King Power Stadium.
