Erik ten Hag’s Team Secures Routine Win at Wigan in FA Cup Third Round
Erik ten Hag, the manager of Manchester United, expressed his satisfaction with the team’s 2-0 victory over Wigan in the FA Cup third round. While not overly excited about the performance, ten Hag told his players “job done” after the match.
Diogo Dalot opened the scoring in the first half, followed by Bruno Fernandes converting a penalty in the second half. The Premier League club had a relatively easy night against the League One side, although Wigan did create some chances.
Despite missing several opportunities to extend their lead, United’s forwards, including Rasmus Hojlund, Marcus Rashford, and Scott McTominay, were not penalized for their misses. As a result, they have secured a place in the fourth round, where they will face either Newport County or Eastleigh.
Ten Hag acknowledged that the victory should have been more comfortable, considering the number of chances created. However, he commended the team for staying focused throughout the match.
Looking ahead, Ten Hag emphasized the importance of taking each game as it comes and not getting carried away with thoughts of winning the FA Cup. The team’s focus is now on their upcoming Premier League match against Tottenham.
