Manchester United’s Hannibal Mejbri will not be allowed to leave the club on loan this month until manager Erik ten Hag is satisfied with his midfield options. The Tunisian midfielder has withdrawn from the Africa Cup of Nations in order to resolve his future. Despite making nine appearances for the Red Devils this season, Ten Hag wants to provide Hannibal with more playing time to aid his development. However, with Casemiro and Mason Mount currently injured, United is short of options in midfield.
Ten Hag is particularly keen on the return of Casemiro and Mount before allowing Hannibal to leave. Last season, Hannibal spent a successful loan spell at Birmingham, making 38 appearances. He is open to returning to St Andrew’s, and there is interest from clubs across the Championship.
In other news, Sofyan Amrabat has missed the last two matches, and Christian Eriksen has recently returned from a five-week lay-off. This further emphasizes the need for Ten Hag to have more midfield options before considering Hannibal’s departure.
