Erik ten Hag is looking to sign a goalkeeper this summer to challenge David De Gea next season, but he has only been given a budget of £15million to do so. De Gea is currently out of contract at the end of the season and the club would prefer to negotiate a new deal with him, however they want him to sign reduced terms. De Gea is currently United’s top earner on £375,000-a-week thanks to a deal he signed in 2019. Despite this, Ten Hag has other areas of his squad such as centre forward and central midfield that require more urgent attention. Therefore, Ten Hag will look to sign a goalkeeper that is valued at no more than £15m in order to challenge De Gea next season. Ten Hag has an initial budget of around £100m to spend this summer, which he will look to spend on a striker, with any other moves being funded by player sales.
