Erik ten Hag prefers Jude Bellingham over any player in the world, tells Man United board

Date:

Erik ten Hag, the manager of Manchester United, has expressed his desire to sign Jude Bellingham, a young midfielder who has been making waves in the football world. Bellingham, who is only 19 years old, is set to be one of the biggest movers in the summer transfer market, with his current club, Dortmund, resigned to allowing him to leave.

Bellingham had previously turned down an offer from Manchester United in 2019, despite the club’s best efforts to woo him with a charm offensive that included legends such as Sir Alex Ferguson, Bryan Robson and Eric Cantona. However, his decision to join Dortmund has proven to be a smart one, as he has become a key figure with the Bundesliga giants and earned priceless experience in the Champions League.

It was Bellingham’s performances for England at the World Cup that really caught Ten Hag’s attention. The Dutchman was left astonished by the young midfielder’s displays in Qatar and reportedly told close friends that he would sign Bellingham over any other player in the world. Ten Hag would “endorse” a deal for Bellingham and United could therefore rival Manchester City and Real Madrid for his signature.

However, United’s priority is signing a world-class centre forward, which would leave little money remaining to sanction a £120m+ move for Bellingham. The club would need to raise funds and the likes of Anthony Martial, Donny van De Beek, Harry Maguire and Alex Telles are all available for transfer. Even then, it may not be enough to tempt Bellingham away from the likes of City and Madrid – who can offer a sure-fire guarantee of Champions League football season in, season out.

Despite the obstacles, Ten Hag remains keen on signing Bellingham and sees him as a key addition to the United squad. Bellingham’s youth and potential make him an attractive prospect for any club, and his performances for Dortmund and England have shown that he has the talent to succeed at the highest level.

United will face stiff competition for Bellingham’s signature, with City and Madrid also reportedly interested in the midfielder. However, United’s history and prestige could be a factor in Bellingham’s decision, as the club has a long tradition of nurturing young talent and giving them the opportunity to shine on the world stage.

In any case, the summer transfer market promises to be an exciting one, with Bellingham set to be one of the most sought-after players. United will need to act quickly if they want to secure his signature, but if they can pull it off, they will have a player who could become a key figure for the club for years to come.
