Erik ten Hag Warns Lisandro Martinez and Casemiro May Still Be Weeks Away from Return to Action
Manchester United manager, Erik ten Hag, has issued a warning that both Lisandro Martinez and Casemiro may still be weeks away from making a return to action, despite having been back in training for quite some time now. Martinez has been sidelined since September due to a foot injury, while Casemiro last played on 1 September due to a hamstring issue.
Although it was initially expected that both players would be back in action this month, Ten Hag has made no guarantees. He stated that while they have been training on the grass for a number of days already, they still need to take the next steps towards a return, which could take some days or even weeks.
On the other hand, Manchester United is expecting the return of several other injured players. Luke Shaw, Tyrell Malacia, Victor Lindelof, Harry Maguire, and Anthony Martial are all believed to be back for the Premier League meeting with Tottenham on 14 January. Rasmus Hojlund is also set to return sooner and is expected to be involved in the match against Wigan on Monday after recovering from an illness that kept him out of the previous game against Nottingham Forest.
Ten Hag confirmed Hojlund’s return, stating that he had dropped out shortly before the game against Forest due to feeling unwell. However, he is now back in training and ready to play.
