Manchester United Manager Erik ten Hag Offers Olive Branch to Jadon Sancho
Erik ten Hag, the manager of Manchester United, has stated that Jadon Sancho can still have a future at the club despite recent rumors of a potential move away in January. However, Ten Hag insists that Sancho must apologize for their falling out.
Sancho, who was signed for £73 million, has not played for the Red Devils since August after publicly criticizing his manager on social media. He accused Ten Hag of making him a scapegoat and denied allegations of not training hard enough. As a result, Sancho was excluded from the first-team squad.
Ten Hag is open to reintegrating Sancho into the team, but only if he publicly apologizes, which Sancho has been reluctant to do so far. Despite increasing speculation about a potential transfer away from Manchester United, Ten Hag believes there is still a way back for Sancho at Old Trafford if he falls in line.
Apology as a Requirement
When asked if Sancho has to leave in the January window, Ten Hag responded, “So it is about a culture and every player has to match certain standards, and it was about that. So what will happen there, he knows what he has to do if he wants to return. It is up to him.”
Ten Hag reiterated that it is up to Sancho to decide whether he wants to mend the relationship and continue his career at Manchester United. The manager’s firm stance on the issue has raised questions about the financial impact on the club, considering Sancho’s high wages.
In a recent interview, former United midfielder Nemanja Matic claimed that Sancho was one of the players who were consistently late for training. This issue was also faced by Alejandro Garnacho when he first joined the first-team squad. However, Ten Hag believes that Garnacho’s ability to overcome his timekeeping struggles demonstrates his development and maturity, offering a potential example for Sancho.
Manchester United’s next match is against Bournemouth at Old Trafford on Saturday, with Marcus Rashford’s availability uncertain due to illness. They will then face Bayern Munich in a crucial Champions League match.
