Enzo Fernandez Wants Serie A Star at Chelsea

Enzo Fernandez Has Contacted Paulo Dybala to Join Chelsea

Chelsea’s new manager Mauricio Pochettino is said to be interested in signing Roma star Paulo Dybala this summer, and Enzo Fernandez has revealed he has contacted the Argentine forward to try and convince him to join the Blues. Reports in Italy claim Dybala has a release clause in his Roma contract which allows him to join a team from outside of Serie A for just €12million (£10m).

In an interview with Argentine outlet Ole, Fernandez said: ‘Yes, I saw something about that. We’ll see. I hope he comes. I talked to him and told him that I’m waiting for him to share a barbecue or something. I need someone to share the mates.’

Fernandez, who joined Chelsea in a £105m deal from Benfica in January, is not the only Blues player to have spoken to Dybala about a move to west London. Thiago Silva revealed he had been in touch with the 29-year-old and said it would be a ‘massive signing’ for Chelsea, who finished just 12th in the Premier League last season.

However, Dybala has dismissed speculation he could be signing for Pochettino’s Chelsea and insists he is staying at Serie A side Roma, managed by ex-Blues boss Jose Mourinho. Speaking to LAROMA24, he said: ‘I’m motivated for pre-season, which we’re starting tomorrow [Monday]. My future? I’m happy at Roma. I’m staying here.’

Chelsea have offloaded several players this summer but Pochettino is keen to bolster his squad with a new striker and central midfielder after officially taking over at Stamford Bridge last week. The Blues have already been linked with several players including Juventus’ Dusan Vlahovic and Mykhaylo Mudryk of Shakhtar Donetsk.

It remains to be seen whether Dybala will be joining Chelsea this summer, but it is clear that the Blues are looking to strengthen their squad ahead of the 2021/22 season. With the transfer window now open, it will be interesting to see who else Pochettino brings in as he looks to build a team capable of challenging for the title.
