England’s World Cup squad has finally been confirmed and now eyes will once again be on what team Gareth Southgate selects to start against Iran.

According to Betfair, the most likely XI includes Harry Maguire, Kieran Trippier, Mason Mount, Raheem Sterling and Phil Foden.

Trent Alexander-Arnold is 3/1 to start against Iran in England’s opening World Cup fixture on Monday, November 21.

Harry Maguire is among the most likely starters in defence at 4/9 but if there Southgate opts for a 4-3-3 formation, one of Maguire, Dier or Stones will be dropped to the bench.

Jordan Pickford is the huge 1/50 favourite to start in goal, ahead of Aaron Ramsdale 16/1 and Nick Pope 14/1.

Declan Rice and Mason Mount are among the market leaders to start in England’s first World Cup but the attackers may move Mount to the bench, with Harry Kane, Raheem Sterling and Phil Foden all set to start as the forwards.

Jude Bellingham was a huge price earlier this year to start but is now 1/12 to start after even more consistent and brilliant performances in the Bundesliga and when he was seen for the Three Lions in the Nations League.

England are fourth favourites to win the World Cup behind Brazil, Argentina and France but injuries have plagued many squads this season and with final league games being played this weekend there could be more surprises in who will be heading to Qatar and not.
