# England Power Past China in Sensational Women’s World Cup Performance
England have produced a sensational performance to sweep past China in the Women’s World Cup, winning 6-1. Lauren James was the star of the show, scoring a hat-trick and helping England secure a place in the last 16.
## Lauren James Leads the Way
Lauren James put in a stunning performance, scoring three goals and providing an assist for another. Her first goal came in the first half, as she latched onto a through ball from Lucy Bronze and calmly slotted it home. Her second and third goals came in the second half, as she took advantage of some sloppy defending to fire home from close range. She also provided an assist for Nikita Parris’ goal, as her cross was met with a powerful header from the England forward.
## England Dominate From Start to Finish
England were in control from the start, with their high-pressing game causing China all sorts of problems. They took the lead early on through Ellen White, as she fired home from close range after some good work from Fran Kirby. They then doubled their lead shortly after, as Nikita Parris headed home from Lauren James’ cross. China pulled one back shortly after, but England responded almost immediately, as White scored her second of the game with a cool finish. James then added two more goals to complete her hat-trick, and seal an emphatic victory for England.
## England Secure Place in Last 16
The victory means that England have secured their place in the last 16 of the Women’s World Cup, where they will face either Norway or Australia. They will be looking to build on this performance and continue their impressive run of form in the tournament.
