Real Madrid New Signing Endrick Chooses Bernabeu Over Chelsea
Brazilian Wonderkid Endrick Snubs Chelsea for Real Madrid
Brazilian wonderkid Endrick has revealed that he seriously considered joining Chelsea but ultimately decided to make a move to Spanish giants Real Madrid.
A year ago, Real Madrid agreed to pay a massive £52 million to sign the then 16-year-old attacker. However, Endrick cannot complete the transfer until he turns 18 in the middle of July next summer.
Real Madrid’s Pursuit of Mbappe and Haaland Influenced Endrick’s Decision
Despite Real Madrid’s interest in Endrick, there were brief moments when it seemed like other clubs might snatch him away. French giants Paris Saint-Germain and Chelsea both made rival attempts to secure his signature.
Endrick has now revealed that Real Madrid’s pursuit of Kylian Mbappe and Erling Haaland made him consider other options, including a potential move to Stamford Bridge. However, his dream of playing for Real Madrid always remained his top choice.
“At one point, there was a lot of talk about Erling Haaland and Kylian Mbappe for Madrid, and that was when there was strong interest from Chelsea and Paris Saint-Germain,” Endrick told The Athletic.
“Of course, they are big and important teams. I am very interested in them, and they would be excellent options.”
Endrick’s Dream of Playing for Real Madrid
Endrick also expressed his attraction to the Premier League and the city of London, as well as Chelsea’s successful track record in the Champions League. However, he made it clear to his agent that his ultimate dream was to play for Real Madrid.
“I was told that it rains a lot in London, but that wouldn’t be a problem because, as my father used to say, I always liked playing in the rain. But I always made it clear to my agent that my dream was Real Madrid,” Endrick stated.
Endrick Excited About Potential Partnership with Mbappe
When asked about the possibility of playing alongside Kylian Mbappe at Real Madrid, Endrick expressed his enthusiasm.
“Whenever there are high-level players within the team, the team will develop better, and consequently, it will be able to win in attitude, right?” Endrick said.
“So whatever is best for Real Madrid and the entire team, let it be done. I just want to be happy playing my football like I always wanted.
“Obviously, if I can play with Vinicius Jr, Rodrygo, or Kylian, it will be something very good. But Florentino [Perez] and all the people around him know what to do which will be better for the club.”
