Emile Heskey urges Jurgen Klopp to give Ryan Gravenberch more game time for Liverpool
Emile Heskey wants to see Ryan Gravenberch play more for Liverpool after the summer signing’s impressive performance in the Europa League. Gravenberch scored his first goal for his new club on Thursday night as Liverpool beat Belgian side Union Saint-Gilloise 2-0 at Anfield.
The midfielder received a standing ovation from the home fans as he was subbed off, with Jurgen Klopp describing his performance as ‘incredible’. Following his breakthrough at Ajax, the 21-year-old endured a difficult time at Bayern Munich last season, but it appears he may have now found the perfect club which can get the best out of him.
Heskey Impressed With Gravenberch
Reds icon Heskey certainly liked what he saw. Speaking to BoyleSports who offer the latest Premier League betting & odds, he said: ‘I liked Ryan Gravenberch’s performance against Union Saint-Gilloise. He’s a really good driving midfielder who likes to take players on and makes a lot of runs forward. He’s really positive and has [Wataru] Endo sitting behind to cover him.
‘I’d like to see more of Gravenberch. I thought Liverpool were good, but they were lucky that Union Saint-Gilliose didn’t have a very clinical striker on hand.’
Gravenberch Yet To Start In Premier League
Gravenberch has started three times for Liverpool so far, recording a goal and two assists in those games, but he is yet to start in the Premier League. He could well make his full debut in the competition on Sunday, when they travel to Brighton for what is set to be a very tricky test against the side that are sixth in the table, just a point behind the Reds.
But the Seagulls have struggled in their past few games – knocked out of the Carabao Cup by Chelsea, losing 6-1 at Aston Villa and then drawing at Marseille in the Europa League having been 2-0 down after just 20 minutes.
Heskey Predicts Liverpool Win
‘I think Liverpool will beat Brighton 2-1,’ former striker Heskey added. ‘It’ll be a tough game as Brighton are a very good side at home. They’re fantastic movers of the ball and they have such a good understanding of their pressing triggers.
‘They really are phenomenal, and the Liverpool game will be interesting as they figure out how to exploit them. Brighton are so good in possession, and Liverpool will be looking to exploit them both in and out of possession.’
