Wayne Rooney Set for Third Job in Management After Leaving DC United
Former Manchester United and England striker Wayne Rooney is set for his third job in management after leaving DC United. Rooney is expected to take over at Championship club Birmingham City after they parted ways with John Eustace on Monday.
Birmingham are currently sixth in England’s second tier as Rooney looks to guide them back into the Premier League. Rooney had a spell in charge of Derby County after retiring as a player and after his time in the United States, he now has several years of management under his belt.
Emile Heskey Backs Rooney to Succeed at Birmingham City
Emile Heskey has backed Manchester United legend Wayne Rooney to succeed as head coach of Championship club Birmingham City. Heskey told BoyleSports who offer the latest Premier League betting & odds: “I think Wayne Rooney has done really well in management. I’d support him being the manager of Birmingham due to his profile and status in the game. He’ll, of course, need to deliver results, but having a figure like him at the club would bring a lot of attention.”
Heskey added: “I think Wayne has done great and he’s always done well with the resources he’s been given. He went through a lot at Derby, but I think he did well and he dealt the pressure well.”
Tom Brady’s Investment in Birmingham FC
Heskey has also been left ‘excited’ by NFL legend Tom Brady’s investment into Birmingham and feels the future is bright for his former club. He said: “I’m definitely excited by Tom Brady’s investment in Birmingham FC. We’re talking about the second-biggest city in England and a huge club in itself. The club has been through a lot of turmoil recently, but the light at the end of the tunnel could be here. They’ll want to push the club forward. I’d say this ownership consortium is exactly what the club needs. Celebrity ownership brings revenue, notoriety, and razzmatazz – and I’d say aspects of football are already heading down this route. I’m not saying it’ll be Americanised, but modern clubs are much more holistic in what they offer and they can almost be seen as an entertainment businesses.”
