Quincy Promes, the Dutch international footballer, is facing accusations of smuggling £65 million worth of cocaine. The Public Prosecution Service has accused Promes of smuggling two batches of cocaine, weighing a combined 1370kg, which were intercepted in Antwerp three years ago. Promes is already on trial for attempted murder and a pre-trial hearing for the cocaine smuggling case is scheduled to take place on June 5 in the Netherlands. Promes, who has played for Sevilla and Ajax, will not be present at the hearing as he is set to play for Russian side Spartak Moscow in their final game of the season on Saturday. Promes’ lawyer declined to comment on the case. In addition to the cocaine smuggling case, Promes is also facing allegations of stabbing his cousin at a family party in 2020. Reports suggest that there is fresh evidence in this case and the final part of the case will be heard next Monday. Dutch prosecutors are pushing for jail time for Promes.
