Roberto Firmino’s hopes of making a Premier League comeback have been dampened by his high wage demands, as per reports. The Liverpool icon, who left the club last summer to join the Saudi Pro League, is looking to return to the English top-flight. However, it seems that no English clubs are willing to meet his £300,000-a-week salary requirement.
Firmino bid an emotional farewell to Anfield after spending eight years at Liverpool. He moved to Al-Ahli in Saudi Arabia and started off well with a hat-trick on his debut, even being named club captain. However, he has struggled to score goals since then, leading to frustration from the club and its fans. It is also reported that Firmino himself is unhappy in the Middle East.
As a result, Al Ahli is open to either selling or loaning out their skipper for the rest of the season. Fulham is one of the Premier League sides that have been offered the chance to sign him in January.
During his time at Liverpool, Firmino made 362 appearances, scoring 111 goals and providing 79 assists. He was part of the team that won several major trophies, including the Premier League, Champions League, FA Cup, Carabao Cup, Super Cup, and Club World Cup.
In other news, Jordan Henderson is also reportedly unhappy in Saudi Arabia and is eyeing a return to the Premier League. Additionally, Liverpool star Diogo Jota has spoken out about Arsenal’s surprising slump.
It remains to be seen if Firmino will find a new club in the Premier League or if he will continue his career in Saudi Arabia.
