Donny van de Beek Set for Loan Move to Eintracht Frankfurt
Manchester United midfielder Donny van de Beek is on his way to Frankfurt to undergo a medical examination, according to talkSPORT. The Dutchman is expected to complete a loan move to Bundesliga side Eintracht Frankfurt until the end of the 2023/24 season when the January transfer window opens.
Struggles at Manchester United
Since joining Manchester United in September 2020 for £40 million, Van de Beek has had a difficult time at Old Trafford. He has only started six Premier League matches in three-and-a-half years and has made a total of 68 appearances in all competitions, scoring two goals.
Loan Deal Details
Frankfurt will pay a loan fee to Manchester United, and the two clubs will split Van de Beek’s wages. The 26-year-old spent the second half of last season on loan at Everton, but only managed seven appearances for the Toffees.
Frankfurt’s Current Position
Eintracht Frankfurt currently sits eighth in the German top-flight and is three points off the European places. The club finished second in their group in the Europa Conference League this season after winning the 2021/22 Europa League.
Looking Ahead
It was hoped that Van de Beek’s form would improve under the guidance of former Ajax boss Erik ten Hag, who joined Manchester United in 2022. However, this has not been the case. United wanted to sell the Netherlands player in the summer, but a lack of interest saw him stay at the club.
