The Los Angeles Dodgers Add Chris Archer to Their Front Office
The Los Angeles Dodgers have made a significant addition to their front office by hiring former major-league pitcher Chris Archer as a special assistant, according to league sources. Archer, who spent 10 seasons in the majors with the Tampa Bay Rays, Pittsburgh Pirates, and Minnesota Twins, will have a wide-ranging role within the organization. The news of Archer’s hiring was first reported by the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette.
A Familiar Face
Despite never playing for the Dodgers, Archer has strong connections to the team’s current regime. He was acquired by the Rays in 2011 when Andrew Friedman, the current Dodgers president of baseball operations, was leading their front office. Archer made his big-league debut the following year and was teammates with Brandon Gomes, the current Dodgers general manager, from 2012 to 2015.
A Successful Career
During his career, Archer earned two All-Star selections and had a 3.93 ERA in 240 career starts. His experience and knowledge of the game will undoubtedly be valuable assets in his new role with the Dodgers.
Joining a Growing List
Archer is not the only former big leaguer to join the Dodgers organization in recent months. The team has quietly added other notable names such as Tyson Ross and Nelson Cruz, both of whom bring a wealth of experience and expertise to the organization.
With the addition of Chris Archer, the Los Angeles Dodgers continue to strengthen their front office and position themselves for continued success in the future.
