Declan Rice Remains Keen on Arsenal Move Despite Manchester City Interest
Declan Rice, the West Ham midfielder, is still interested in joining Arsenal despite Manchester City’s interest in him. Mikel Arteta, the Arsenal manager, has made Rice one of his priority targets for the summer transfer window. However, Arsenal has been unable to reach an agreement with West Ham, who have rejected two bids so far, including the latest offer of £75 million up front plus a further £15m in add-ons. West Ham values Rice at £100m.
City has now expressed a strong interest in signing Rice and is expected to submit a rival offer to Arsenal’s. However, City is seeking assurances from Rice that he is not holding out for a move to Arteta’s side. Despite City’s interest, Rice is still looking to join Arsenal this summer, according to MailOnline.
Arsenal is now preparing a third bid that will go closer to matching West Ham’s £100m valuation. The Gunners are also on the verge of completing their £65m deal to sign Kai Havertz from Chelsea. The Germany international has already undergone some of his medical tests with Arsenal and has agreed a five-year contract.
Arsenal is also expecting to reach an agreement with Ajax to sign Jurrien Timber and has submitted an improved offer after their initial bid was rejected last week.
