Jamie Carragher has suggested that Declan Rice would be a better fit for Manchester United than Mason Mount, with Gary Neville surprised by United’s ongoing pursuit of the Chelsea star. Erik ten Hag is keen to bolster his midfield options this summer and has reportedly prepared an opening offer for Mount, whose contract at Stamford Bridge will expire next summer. United also have long-term interest in Rice, but the Hammers captain reportedly favours a move to Arsenal. Carragher believes that Rice fits the mould for what ten Hag’s midfield is crying out for, while Neville thinks that United have more pressing matters in their engine room. The Overlap on Tour sees Neville, Carragher and Roy Keane travel across the UK and Ireland, revisiting the places that shaped their lives and careers.
