David de Gea’s Future at Manchester United Uncertain

David de Gea, the Spanish goalkeeper for Manchester United, is currently in a state of uncertainty regarding his future with the club. De Gea’s contract with Manchester United is set to expire at the end of this month, and he has not yet signed a new deal. According to reports, De Gea has verbally agreed to a one-year extension with the club, but he has not yet put pen to paper due to his holiday.

Manchester United is still preparing for the possibility that De Gea may leave the club and is reportedly looking at potential replacements. One goalkeeper that they have their eye on is Andre Onana, who helped Inter Milan reach the Champions League final this season. Onana played under Erik ten Hag at Ajax and would fit the way the Dutchman wants to play thanks to his impressive skill on the ball. However, Chelsea is also interested in Onana, despite Mauricio Pochettino showing faith in Kepa Arrizabalaga. Onana has four years remaining on his contract, and Inter could demand £60 million to let him leave.

Another goalkeeper that Manchester United has been linked with is Diogo Costa from Porto. The Portuguese has a release clause of £65 million and could become United’s no.1 even if De Gea pens his contract offer.

De Gea’s Pay Cut

De Gea, who is 32 years old, is believed to be ready to take a pay cut of around 50 per cent of the current £375,000-a-week wages he earns. Manchester United confirmed discussions remain open with the Spaniard when announcing their retained list. However, De Gea’s future with the club remains uncertain until he signs a new deal.

Manchester United’s Retained List

Manchester United recently announced their retained list, which includes players who have been offered new contracts and players who will be leaving the club. The list includes players such as Juan Mata, Lee Grant, and Nemanja Matic, who have all been offered new contracts. However, Sergio Romero, Joel Pereira, and Jacob Carney will be leaving the club.

Manchester United’s Future

Manchester United is currently preparing for the upcoming season and is looking to strengthen their squad. The club is reportedly interested in signing Jadon Sancho from Borussia Dortmund and Raphael Varane from Real Madrid. Manchester United is also looking to sign a new midfielder, with Declan Rice and Ruben Neves being linked with the club.
