# David Seaman ‘Happy’ for Chelsea to Sack Mauricio Pochettino
Former Arsenal goalkeeper David Seaman has revealed he would be ‘happy’ for Chelsea to sack Mauricio Pochettino, as it would mean less competition for his beloved Gunners. The Argentine took over as Chelsea head coach this summer but has endured a tough start, with the club winning one of their opening six top-flight games.
The Blues have spent over £1 billion on transfers under co-owners Todd Boehly and Behdad Eghbali, but their huge spending has not translated into success on the pitch, with the club suffering an abysmal 12th-placed finish last season before a slow start this term.
## Seaman’s Thoughts on Pochettino
Seaman is a huge fan of former Tottenham boss Pochettino, and feels he would only improve Chelsea if he stays at Stamford Bridge.
‘Aston Villa beat Chelsea and there was a lot of talk about Pochettino getting sacked,’ Seaman said on his podcast. ‘It’s not Pochettino [who is the problem]. If they get rid of him I will be well happy, because Chelsea will be right out of it.
‘The longer he stays, the better they will get. There is no doubt about that. I heard someone say it’s like he has a big handful of cards but can’t find the right hand.’
Seaman instead took aim at Chelsea’s co-owners for ‘forcing’ a young squad on Pochettino and for the changes they have made at the club off the pitch since they took over from Roman Abramovich.
‘They are a young squad. That’s been forced on him a little bit, I think,’ Seaman said. ‘A lot of the backroom staff got fired in the change of ownership process. That’s not a good sign. Not just coaches but kit men and all that sort of side of it.’
## Will Pochettino Turn Things Around?
Several pundits have argued that Pochettino’s job is under threat, especially if he is unable to guide the Blues to victory in their next two Premier League matches against Fulham and Burnley.
However, Seaman feels Pochettino will eventually turn things around if he is given time to do so. ‘Chelsea are going to come good. Arsenal have them in a couple weeks and they need to get three points while they can because they are going to get better, there is no doubt.’
Only time will tell if Pochettino can turn things around at Chelsea and prove Seaman wrong.
