David Seaman Defends Oleksandr Zinchenko and Identifies Arsenal’s Real Problem
Former Arsenal goalkeeper and legend, David Seaman, has come to the defense of struggling star Oleksandr Zinchenko. Seaman believes that the real problem for Arsenal this season lies elsewhere on the pitch.
The Gunners have recently suffered back-to-back defeats in the Premier League against West Ham and Fulham, dealing a significant blow to their title chances. With only one win in their last five top-flight games, Zinchenko has faced criticism from fans and pundits alike.
Paul Merson, another Arsenal legend, expressed his concerns about Zinchenko’s performance and its impact on the team’s title race. Ian Wright also criticized the left-back following Arsenal’s draw against Liverpool last month. Even Mikel Arteta, Arsenal’s manager, had to defend Zinchenko after his mistake against Wolves in early December.
However, Seaman refuses to join in the criticism of the Ukrainian international. He believes that Arsenal’s problems stem from their inability to score goals rather than individual player performances. Seaman emphasizes that football is a team sport and that the focus should be on defending as a unit.
Seaman points out that Arsenal has created numerous chances in their recent games, with 56 shots in three matches. However, they have only managed to score two goals in reply. He believes that the strikers have lost their confidence and hopes that this is just a temporary blip rather than a long-term issue.
In conclusion, Seaman defends Zinchenko and shifts the blame for Arsenal’s struggles to their lack of goal-scoring prowess. He remains optimistic that the team will regain their form and overcome this challenging period.
