West Ham United manager David Moyes has expressed his disappointment with his team’s performance in their 1-1 draw against Aston Villa. The result took the Hammers out of the Premier League relegation zone on goal difference, but Moyes believes that his side is still struggling to find a consistent run of form.

Moyes, who took charge of the club for a second time in 2019, is enduring a difficult season. He believes that his team’s inconsistency is a major factor in their struggles this season. “I think our home form is beginning to do a little bit better,” he said. “A draw today is not the best, we drew with Chelsea a few weeks ago as well but in between we’ve beaten Nottingham Forest and Everton, so our four home games here have been sort of positive in the main.”

However, Moyes acknowledged that consistency is a big issue for his side. “At the moment, I have to say we’re a bit flaky, and I have to make sure that that’s not there,” he said. “For the last two-and-a-half years we’ve not been that way, but this season we have shown bits of that which I don’t like.”

Moyes believes that it will take time for him to get his message across to the new players in the team, but he also expects the more experienced players to help drive the message home. “Obviously it’s going to take me time to get it into a lot of the new players what’s expected,” he said. “But also, the players who were here then, they need to keep driving on the message and make sure that we continue to be resilient when we’re maybe not at our best.”

West Ham’s form this season has been a far cry from that of the previous campaign, in which they finished seventh. They are currently level on 24 points with Leicester above them and Bournemouth below them. With just five points separating 12th and 20th place in the Premier League table, Moyes’ side could be set for a relegation battle this season.

The Hammers’ home clash against Aston Villa finished 1-1, with Moyes’ side securing a point after going a goal down. Ollie Watkins netted the opener for Villa on Sunday before Said Benrahma equalised for the hosts with a penalty.

Moyes believes that his side’s performance against Aston Villa reminded him of the ‘flaky’ side that he saw before he took charge of the club. “I said long, long ago before I first joined West Ham, if there was one thing that people sort of thought about West Ham was, they used to use the word ‘flaky’,” he said. “At the moment, I have to say we’re a bit flaky, and I have to make sure that that’s not there.”

West Ham’s draw against Aston Villa was only their 24th league goal of the season so far. The Hammers’ form in front of goal has been a major issue this season, with Moyes’ side struggling to create chances and convert them into goals.

Despite their struggles this season, Moyes remains optimistic about his team’s chances of survival. He believes that if his side can find some consistency and start scoring more goals, they can climb up the table and avoid relegation. “We’ve got to keep working hard,” he said. “We’ve got to keep trying to get better and keep trying to improve.”

In conclusion, David Moyes is aware of his team’s inconsistency and believes that it is a major factor in their struggles this season. He is working hard to get his message across to the new players in the team and expects the more experienced players to help drive the message home. Despite their struggles this season, Moyes remains optimistic about his team’s chances of survival and believes that if they can find some consistency and start scoring more goals, they can climb up the table and avoid relegation.
