David De Gea has verbally agreed a new contract with Manchester United, despite receiving ‘tempting offers’ from Saudi Arabia. The Spaniard’s current deal expires at the end of the month, leaving him free to join other clubs on a free transfer. However, De Gea has agreed to significantly reduce his £375,000-a-week salary, which makes him the top earner at the club. Despite this, Fabrizio Romano has reported that De Gea is still attracting interest from Saudi Arabia and could yet have played his final game for the club.
United are also interested in Porto goalkeeper Diogo Costa, who has a £64million release clause in his contract. However, United have intimated they will not trigger that, and instead could look to negotiate a lower deal for Costa so that they can preserve their budget for other targets, such as in midfield and attack.
