Crystal Palace Set to Sack Roy Hodgson and Hire Former Chelsea and Tottenham Target
Crystal Palace fans have been left disappointed by their team’s recent poor performance, and it seems that a change in leadership is on the horizon. Roy Hodgson, who returned to manage the club last season, is expected to be sacked, and Palace already have a replacement in mind.
The team’s current form has been far from impressive, with just three wins in their last 19 games. As a result, they find themselves in 15th place in the Premier League table, just five points above the relegation zone. Their upcoming match against Everton could prove crucial, as a loss would reduce the gap to just two points.
Many fans have attributed the team’s struggles to Hodgson, who took over on an interim basis after Patrick Vieira’s departure. Although the plan was always to find a new manager in the summer, chairman Steve Parish has been forced to expedite the process due to the team’s poor performance.
While it remains uncertain whether Hodgson will still be in charge for the match against Everton, multiple reports suggest that his time at Crystal Palace is coming to an end. The club has already made a formal approach to hire Oliver Glasner, the former manager of Eintracht Frankfurt.
Glasner has been without a job since leaving Frankfurt last summer, where he achieved success by winning the Europa League in 2022. The 49-year-old has garnered interest from top clubs such as Chelsea and Tottenham in the past, being considered for managerial positions before they appointed Mauricio Pochettino and Ange Postecoglou, respectively.
Despite other potential candidates such as Steve Cooper, Julien Lopetegui, and Kieran McKenna being considered, Glasner is currently the frontrunner for the Crystal Palace job. He has expressed his interest in taking over and is well-regarded in the football world.
Crystal Palace fans will be eagerly awaiting confirmation of the managerial change, hoping that Glasner can turn things around for their struggling team. With his previous success and the club’s determination to improve, there is optimism that a new era is on the horizon at Selhurst Park.
