Crystal Palace have made a significant signing by bringing winger Ismaila Sarr to the club from Marseille for a fee of around £12.5m. The 26-year-old has agreed to a five-year contract with the Eagles.
Sarr expressed his excitement about joining Crystal Palace and highlighted the club’s project as a key factor in his decision. He is eager to contribute both on and off the pitch for the team and the fans. Sarr previously played for Watford before moving to Marseille last year.
During his time at Watford, Sarr scored an impressive 34 goals in 131 appearances. He also had a productive season at Marseille, contributing five goals and six assists in all competitions. With 13 goals in 64 caps for Senegal, Sarr brings international experience and success, having won the Africa Cup of Nations in 2021 and participated in two World Cups.
Crystal Palace manager Oliver Glasner expressed his satisfaction with the signing, praising Sarr’s familiarity with the Premier League from his time at Watford and his strong performances for Marseille. Glasner highlighted Sarr’s goal-scoring ability, which he has consistently demonstrated throughout his career, including his contributions to the Senegal national team.
Sarr’s arrival at Crystal Palace comes as the club seeks to replace Michael Olise, who recently joined Bayern Munich. Olise’s departure brought in a significant sum of £50m for the club, allowing them to make several signings this summer. Alongside Sarr, Crystal Palace has also acquired the services of Daichi Kamada, a Japanese midfielder, on a free transfer from Lazio, and Chadi Riad, a Moroccan player, in a £14m deal from Real Betis.
The addition of Sarr to Crystal Palace’s squad brings a skilled and experienced winger to the team. His goal-scoring prowess, combined with his international success, makes him a valuable asset for the Eagles. With these new signings, Crystal Palace aims to strengthen their squad and compete in the Premier League with renewed vigor.
