Cristiano Ronaldo says Glazer family ‘don’t care about Manchester United’ in latest release from Piers Morgan interview – and warns club will struggle to compete with likes of Arsenal, Liverpool and Man City

Cristiano Ronaldo has accused the Glazer family of not caring about Manchester United in more bombshell claims from his interview with Piers Morgan.

The five-time Ballon d’Or winner slammed the club and manager Erik ten Hag in the first snippets revealed from the 90-minute TalkTV interview, which will be broadcast in two parts on Wednesday and Thursday from 8pm.

Ronaldo alluded to a lack of development in the facilities at the club since Sir Alex Ferguson left in 2013 and declared he had no respect for current United boss Ten Hag.

And now the 37-year-old has taken aim at the club’s American owners, revealing he has not spoken to co-chairmen Avram and Joel Glazer – or any of the family – since his return to Manchester in 2021.

“The owners of the club, they don’t care about the club,” Ronaldo said.

“As you know Manchester United is a marketing club, they will get their money from the marketing, but with the sports they don’t really care in my opinion.”

When asked by Morgan if he had ever spoken to the Glazers, Ronaldo responded: “Never. They give all the power to the president and sporting director.”

The unpopular Glazer family have owned Manchester United Football Club since 2005 and have faced numerous calls over the years from fans to relinquish control at Old Trafford.

And Ronaldo issued a warning to the Man United faithful that it could be some time before the club is back on top, like they were during the Portuguese’s first spell at the club.

“The fans are always right, the fans should know the truth,” he added.

“They should know that we, the players, want the best for the club. I want the best for the club, this is why I came to Manchester United, I love this club.

“But you have some things inside the club which don’t help Manchester United reach the top level like Manchester City, Liverpool and even now Arsenal for example, which is complicated. It’s difficult.

“It’s hard. In my opinion it will be hard for Manchester United to be at the top of the game in the next two-three years.”
