Jerry Jones Open to Trades to Improve Dallas Cowboys

Jerry Jones, the owner and general manager of the Dallas Cowboys, expressed his willingness to make a move to improve the team before the trade deadline. However, he clarified that he does not plan on initiating talks with other teams. Jones made these comments during his weekly interview with “Shan & RJ” on 105.3 The Fan in Dallas.
Jones stated, “It will have to come our way. I don’t want to preclude it in any way, but it always does… The initiation of an opportunity to make a trade that would help us principally has to start over on the other end. That’s not showing a lack of aggressiveness, it’s just how it starts.”
The trade deadline is set for October 31 at 4 p.m. ET. The Cowboys currently hold a 4-2 record and are in second place behind the Philadelphia Eagles (6-1), who recently made a significant trade by acquiring safety Kevin Byard from the Tennessee Titans.
While Jones mentioned that he likes the current personnel of the team, he also expressed his desire to improve the team. He said, “I would really extend to improve our team right now… Because I think we have a team that is a contender. So, I would do it right now.”
Jones described his approach to trade talks as “laying in wait.” He believes that when certain circumstances arise and opportunities present themselves, it is the best chance to make improvements.
Reflecting on the team’s 42-10 loss to the San Francisco 49ers in Week 5, Jones acknowledged that there are areas that need improvement. Specifically, he mentioned the offense’s performance in red zone situations and the defense’s need to eliminate big plays. However, he remains optimistic and believes that the team will get better.
Despite the loss to the 49ers, Jones still considers the Cowboys to be among the NFL’s top teams. He stated, “Well, we belong in the upper echelon. I’m not going to say that we belong on the field with San Fran, and we haven’t played Philly, but I’m anticipating Philadelphia being what they look like. So, I don’t want to go that far, but we’re in the upper echelon.”
As the trade deadline approaches, Cowboys fans will eagerly await any potential moves that could further strengthen their team. With Jerry Jones open to making improvements, it remains to be seen if the Cowboys will make any significant trades before the deadline.
