Coutinho Out, Villa Injury Boost

Aston Villa will make the trip to Liverpool on Saturday to face Philippe Coutinho’s former club, but Manager Unai Emery has positive news elsewhere. The Midlands outfit arrive on a strong run of form, with nine victories in their last 13 matches. Emery has confirmed that the only two injuries in his first-team squad are Coutinho and third-choice goalkeeper Jed Steer, with Coutinho not featuring since February. He will not play again this season due to his injury, and it remains to be seen if he will travel to Merseyside for his close friend Roberto Firmino’s farewell. Emery has also confirmed that defender Calum Chambers is available after illness, making the entire squad fit and present, bar Coutinho and Steer. Possible Aston Villa XI: Martinez; Young, Konsa, Mings, Moreno; Dendoncker, Luiz; McGinn, Buendia, Ramsey; Watkins.
