Liverpool Youngster Kieran Morrison Impresses with Versatility, Coach Marc Bridge-Wilkinson Says
Liverpool’s young talent, Kieran Morrison, has been in exceptional form recently, earning praise from coach Marc Bridge-Wilkinson for his versatility as he continues to develop. Despite recent game postponements at both U21s and U18s levels, several young players have shown significant progress.
Morrison, who celebrated his 17th birthday at the beginning of November, has scored an impressive five goals in his last five games for the club. This includes a hat-trick against Middlesbrough U18s. Notably, Morrison has showcased his ability to score from various positions, including on the right and left wings and as a No. 8 in midfield, which has been his most successful role so far.
“He has had a great run of form over the past four or five weeks, including the international break where he performed exceptionally well for Northern Ireland,” Bridge-Wilkinson commented on Liverpool’s official website. “He has the ability to play in different positions.”
Bridge-Wilkinson further explained that Morrison has been utilized in central areas, on both sides of the pitch, and in midfield this season. The coach is eager to see where Morrison feels most comfortable and where he can truly excel.
“At the moment, he is proving himself to be highly capable in different areas of the pitch,” Bridge-Wilkinson added.
Morrison’s playing style at such a young age draws comparisons to Curtis Jones, who stood out in the academy with his confidence on the ball and ability to navigate challenges. While Morrison still has a long way to go to reach Jones’ level and break into the first team, his involvement with the U21s since last season demonstrates his potential.
Bridge-Wilkinson, who closely collaborates with U21s coach Barry Lewtas as players transition between teams, emphasizes the importance of Liverpool’s support in Morrison’s development.
“Kieran has shown promise with his recent goal-scoring performances, but like the rest of the boys, he still has a lot of room for improvement,” Bridge-Wilkinson explained. “We will continue to assist him in his development, regardless of his scoring record or performance level. Our goal is to help him understand his game and become a better player.”
By nurturing Morrison’s talent and providing guidance, Liverpool aims to help him reach his full potential and contribute to the success of the club in the future.
