Christopher Nkunku is set to join Chelsea in the summer transfer window, with the Blues having triggered the Frenchman’s £53m release clause. Though the transfer has yet to be officially confirmed, it has been an open secret for months. Chelsea defender Wesley Fofana, who joined the club from Leicester City last summer, is keen for Nkunku to join him in west London, saying it would be “pure happiness” to have him at Stamford Bridge. When asked about his pending move, Nkunku was coy, saying he was focused on international duty and that they would have time to think about it afterwards. He also said he was happy to play wherever Mauricio Pochettino decided, as he wanted to be a solution rather than a problem. Nkunku ended his time in Germany on a high, scoring in the DFB Pokal final win over Frankfurt last week.
