Manchester United’s Christian Eriksen Sends Support and Advice to Tom Lockyer After Cardiac Arrest
Manchester United star Christian Eriksen has reached out to Tom Lockyer, the captain of Luton Town, after Lockyer suffered a cardiac arrest during a match last Saturday.
Eriksen’s Experience
Lockyer collapsed in the 55th minute of Luton’s Premier League match at Bournemouth. He received immediate medical attention on the pitch and was later taken to the hospital. Luton Town announced that Lockyer was in a stable condition but undergoing tests and scans.
This incident brought back memories of Eriksen’s own cardiac arrest during Denmark’s group game against Finland in Euro 2020. Eriksen was fitted with an implantable cardioverter-defibrillator device and returned to football after eight months.
Eriksen’s Support and Advice
Eriksen expressed his concern for Lockyer’s well-being and advised him to make the best decision based on the doctors’ recommendations. He emphasized the importance of taking time and focusing on oneself during the recovery process.
Lockyer had previously collapsed on the pitch during May’s Championship Play-Off final against Coventry at Wembley. He underwent surgery to fix an atrial fibrillation and returned for the start of the new season.
