Chelsea are reportedly considering a surprising move for Aston Villa’s Jhon Duran in order to strengthen their striking options for the remainder of the season. The Blues recently secured a narrow victory over Fulham, marking their third consecutive Premier League win. However, they still face challenges in the attacking department.

Mauricio Pochettino’s side suffered a disappointing 1-0 defeat in the first leg of their Carabao Cup semi-final against Middlesbrough and have struggled to find consistent goal-scoring sources throughout the season. While Nicolas Jackson is currently competing in the Africa Cup of Nations with Senegal, summer signing Christopher Nkunku has been plagued by injuries.

Although Nkunku is expected to return to first-team training soon, Chelsea is reportedly exploring the possibility of bolstering their attacking depth through a short-term loan. Reports suggest that Jhon Duran of Aston Villa is a potential candidate for this loan move.

Duran, who joined Aston Villa from Chicago Fire last season, has scored two goals in the league so far. However, due to the impressive form and consistency of Ollie Watkins, he has yet to start a game for the club.

AC Milan has also shown interest in signing Duran, but it is unlikely that he will leave Aston Villa unless the club has a replacement lined up. In addition to Duran, Chelsea has been considering moves for Victor Osimhen and Ivan Toney. However, both players would require significant fees to secure their services in the January transfer window.

Brentford has set a price tag of around £100m for Ivan Toney, while Chelsea would need to pay at least £112m to activate Victor Osimhen’s release clause in his new Napoli contract.

When asked about the club’s plans to bring in a striker in January, Pochettino stated, “We are assessing the squad like always. But I am happy because we have different options to play in the striker positions and then we need our second line offensive players to step up and score and help the team score and win games.”

With their sights set on strengthening their attacking options, Chelsea is considering a surprise move for Jhon Duran of Aston Villa. As the season progresses, it remains to be seen whether this potential loan deal will come to fruition.
