Mykhailo Mudryk Injury Worry for Chelsea Ahead of AFC Bournemouth Match
Chelsea’s injury problems could be set to worsen after Mykhailo Mudryk hobbled off with a suspected calf problem in Euro 2024 qualifying on Saturday.
Mudryk started for Ukraine as they secured a 1-1 draw against England but requested to be replaced in the 90th minute after he got hurt in Wrocław.
The 22-year-old fell to the floor holding his calf after a failed Cruyff turn as he tried to get past Three Lions defender Kyle Walker.
Mudryk’s Injury History
In the first half, Mudryk also required medical treatment following a challenge from Marcus Rashford. Mudryk was able to continue after that but the calf problem he sustained in the second half proved to be too much as he was subbed off and replaced.
Chelsea already have a lengthy injury list which includes the likes of Christopher Nkunku, Reece James, Wesley Fofana, Carney Chukwuemeka and Trevoh Chalobah. Losing Mudryk would be a fresh blow for Mauricio Pochettino despite the Ukrainian’s struggles at Stamford Bridge since his huge £88.5m transfer.
The Chelsea winger has made 20 appearances for the west Londoners to date, registering two assists, and he is still waiting to score his first goal for the Blues.
Chelsea’s Injury Woes
Chelsea recently warned Mudryk to lay off the weights and cut back on extra gym sessions in a bid to help kickstart his Premier League career.
The Blues lost to Nottingham Forest in their last match and return to action on Sunday as they travel to face AFC Bournemouth in the Premier League.
Conclusion
With Mykhailo Mudryk now added to the injury list, Chelsea’s woes are only getting worse. The Blues will be hoping that the Ukrainian can make a speedy recovery and be back on the pitch soon. In the meantime, they will have to make do with their current squad and hope that they can get back to winning ways against AFC Bournemouth on Sunday.
