American TV programme Pawn Stars has caused a Twitter frenzy by airing claims that Christian Pulisic is on the same level as Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi.
The US reality series based in Las Vegas, centres around staff’s interactions with customers who bring in items to sell or pawn.
On Sunday a clip from the show emerged online of a self-proclaimed Pulisic fan attempting to sell a signed shirt from the Blues star – and it didn’t take long for the video to gain attention.
Looking to exchange the framed strip for a sum of $1,500 to upgrade his guitar, the shirt owner attempts to explain to the Pawn Star broker just how valuable the jersey is.
There was a lot to unpack in this section of the episode to say the least, such as the seller calling Pulisic a centre-midfielder and centre-forward.
Not to mention him agreeing with the broker’s comment that the 23-year-old is to ‘soccer’ what LeBron James, the NBA’s greatest ever player on par with Michael Jordan, is to basketball.
Just as things looked like they couldn’t get any more bizarre, the comments made by the programme’s designated authenticator took things up a notch.
After analysing the shirt, the authenticator says: “Christian Pulisic is one of the finest soccer players, or football players, in the world.
“He plays in England, he plays for Chelsea. The kid’s 22 years old so you imagine the talent this guy has.
“You know we think of guys like Messi or Ronaldo, and this kid’s already been compared to all that.”
The Pennsylvania-born Blues star is the most expensive American player in Premier League history and has had a successful stint at Stamford Bridge since joining Chelsea for £58 million from Borussia Dortmund in 2019.
However, most football fans would think the Pawn Star’s claims are a bit steep.
At least Pulisic can be assured that his country think highly of him!
