Chelsea to Face Preston North End in FA Cup Third Round
Chelsea will be hosting Championship side Preston North End in the third round of the FA Cup this weekend. The Blues are eager to win the prestigious trophy for the first time since 2018.
Mauricio Pochettino’s Chelsea side has performed well in cup competitions this season, reaching the semi-finals of the Carabao Cup. However, their performance in the Premier League has been disappointing, currently sitting in 10th place despite their significant summer spending of £425.7m.
Preston, on the other hand, is currently 14th in the Championship but is only five points away from the play-off places. They are aiming to return to the top flight for the first time in 63 years.
Historically, Chelsea has had the upper hand against Preston, with 31 victories compared to Preston’s 26.
