The FA Cup final is taking place at London’s Wembley Stadium this Saturday, with Thomas Tuchel’s Chelsea and Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool facing off for the chance to list the trophy.

It is not the first time the teams have met in a cup final this season, with Liverpool coming out on top in the Carabao League Cup final back in February.

The Blues will be looking to settle the score, while a victory for Klopp’s squad will keep them in line to achieve an unprecedented quadruple – four trophies in one season.

Chelsea vs Liverpool is also a regular fixture in the Premier League, with both clubs considered to be two of the best in the league.

But what is the head to head record like between the two teams, and which one of them has won the most FA Cups?

Chelsea and Liverpool FC have faced each other a total of 191 times since facing each other for the first time in 1907.

Of those 191 games, Liverpool have won the most, beating Chelsea a total of 83 times. Chelsea meanwhile have defeated the Reds on 65 occasions, with 43 meet-ups ending in a draw.

It is a closer run competition when comparing the head to head record in the Premier League, which first began in 1992.

The two teams have met 60 times – Liverpool won 23 of those meetings, while Chelsea got the three points on 21 occasions. 16 games have ended in a draw.

So far in the 2021/22 season, the two teams have met on three occasions, twice in the Premier League and in the League Cup final.

Klopp’s side won in their last meeting following a dramatic penalty shoot-out in the Carabao League Cup final, but their games in the Premier League this season have both ended in a draw.

While Liverpool may have the edge when it comes to overall head to head records, they are just behind in overall FA Cup final victories.

The Merseyside Reds have lifted the coveted trophy a total of seven times – Chelsea have won it eight times.

LFC last won the trophy back in 2006 under the management of Rafa Benetiz, beating West Ham United on penalties.

The west London Blues last won it in 2018 with head coach Antonio Conte, beating Manchester United 1-0 thanks to a penalty struck home by Eden Hazard.

Arsenal FC maintains the record for most FA Cup titles in the tournament’s 150-year history, with their trophy cabinet home to 14 FA trophies.

What are the latest odds?

Liverpool have made it to every possible final they could this season, and are in a tithgt race with Man City for the Premier League title.

But some bookies think Chelsea may well cause an upset.

Alex Apati of Ladbrokes said: ‘Liverpool were dealt a huge blow last weekend in their Quadruple quest, and having dropped points against Spurs, plenty of punters are convinced another London club can burst their bubble this weekend.

‘In fact, we’ve actually seen more interest in Tuchel’s outsiders lifting the trophy than we have in Klopp and co’ added Apati.

The current odds according to Ladbrokes stand at

  • Chelsea to lift the trophy – 11/8
  • Liverpool to lift the trophy – 8/15

Ladbrokes odds for the game to be decided in 90 minutes stand at:

  • Liverpool to win – 21/20
  • Chelsea to win – 13/5
  • Draw – 12/5

The FA Cup final takes place on Saturday May 14, with kick-off scheduled for 4.45pm. You can watch all the action on BBC One and ITV.
