Chelsea urged to stick with under-pressure Graham Potter amid Mauricio Pochettino reports and ‘bad egg’ Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang needs to leave

Chelsea have been told to stick with manager Graham Potter despite their current woes, which sees the Blues languishing in tenth in the Premier League.

Potter joined the Blues in September following the shock dismissal of Thomas Tuchel.

He went unbeaten in his first nine games at Chelsea but their form has now dipped, with many of their key players out injured.

The poor form has naturally thrown up questions about Potter’s future but talkSPORT’s Ally McCoist and Gabby Agbonlahor believe he should be given more time at Stamford Bridge.

When asked on talkSPORT Breakfast if ex-Tottenham boss Mauricio Pochettino would be a good replacement for the former Brighton boss, McCoist replied: “I’m refusing to get involved in this!

“Let’s give Potter a chance right, I’m refusing to get involved in idle chat. Let’s face the facts, Potter’s in the job, let’s get behind Potter and that’s it.

“Pochettino is dying to get back in, I’m not sure he’d go to Chelsea after his experience at Spurs, maybe he would, I think he probably would.

“However, come on, let’s focus our energies and give the man in the job our support!”

Chelsea have won just once in their last four matches across all competitions since the World Cup.

The recent signings of Joao Felix and Benoit Badiashile show signs of the team strengthening and Agbonlahor echoed McCoist’s calls for the club to stick with their manager.

“I would like to see him have time, this window, the summer window and then judge him on next season,” he told talkSPORT.

“He’s got a lot of players in that squad that you don’t want. [Pierre-Emerick] Aubameyang, there’s a reason why [Mikel] Arteta got rid of him.

“He’ll be there now probably being a bad egg at the club, he’s got to get him out the door. He’s got [Cesar] Azpilicueta who’s getting on a bit now, he’s going to have to play more football because of Reece James’ injury problems.

“His number one left-back [Ben] Chilwell, injury problems, [Marc] Cucurella hasn’t performed. Striker wise, they’ve brought in Felix now. For me, he’s not the answer, I think he’s lightweight and not what Chelsea need. So I feel like Potter needs to be given time.”
