Leeds United’s relegation from the Premier League on Sunday was celebrated by Chelsea’s Twitter admin. The Whites needed a win over Tottenham and for Leicester and Everton to lose against West Ham and Bournemouth respectively to avoid relegation. However, Leeds suffered a 4-1 defeat at home, confirming their relegation. While the scenes at Elland Road were of despondency, Chelsea’s Twitter account replied to a tweet from Leeds’ account in August, which had said “Life comes at you fast”, with “It certainly does”. Leeds’ three-year stay in the top flight came to an end with Spurs outplaying them. After the drop to the Championship was confirmed, both Sam Allardyce and the club apologised to fans.
