Sevilla are ready to accept Chelsea’s improved £55million bid for defender Jules Kounde, talkSPORT understands.
The Blues had an initial a £47m offer turned down for the French centre-back.
It handed some initiative back to Barcelona, who are interested in signing Kounde.
However, the 23-year-old now looks set to join Chelsea as the Premier League side upped their offer to meet Sevilla’s demands.
Kounde, who almost joined Chelsea last summer, has already agreed personal terms with the club.
The France international began his career with Bordeaux before being signed by Sevilla in the summer of 2019.
He’s set to become Chelsea’s third major signing of the summer – taking their outlay to around £140million – with Tuchel also bringing in Raheem Sterling and centre-back Kalidou Koulibaly this month.
Todd Boehly, the club’s new co-owner, has wasted little time strengthening the squad.
talkSPORT understands Chelsea are also interested in signing defender Presnel Kimpembe, who worked with Tuchel at Paris Saint-Germain.
Kounde going to Chelsea could also have an effect on Arsenal with Barca lining up a bid for William Saliba as an alternative option.
Spanish journalist Gerard Romero says Milan Skriniar, Gvardiol, Inigo Martinez and Roger Ibanez are also on the list.
