Chelsea suffer transfer blow as Newcastle make huge verbal offer to sign Borussia Dortmund wonderkid Youssoufa Moukoko

Newcastle have reportedly entered the race to sign Chelsea target Youssoufa Moukoko from Borussia Dortmund.

The 18-year-old is one of Europe’s hottest young strikers and becomes a free agent in July.

Moukoko, who played for Germany at the 2022 World Cup, is currently able to negotiate pre-contract agreements with clubs outside of German football.

Dortmund are desperate to tie their academy product down to a new deal, but cannot match the money being offered elsewhere.

Chelsea and Barcelona are both keen – and now the newly-rich Magpies are threatening to blow everybody out of the water.

According to the Evening Standard, Newcastle have made a substantial verbal offer to Moukoko’s representatives.

It is understood the Saudi-backed Toon are willing to pay Moukoko £150,000-a-week to secure a free transfer this summer.

The German wonderkid has six goals and three assists in 14 Bundesliga matches this season.

Chelsea, meanwhile, have turned their attention to Atletico Madrid forward Joao Felix for the time being.

The Blues have agreed an £8million fee to sign the Portugal star on-loan for the remainder of the season.

Graham Potter’s side are experiencing a woeful season, particularly in attack, and the need for reinforcements up top could not be greater.
