Carney Chukwuemeka, the young midfielder for Chelsea, has been approached by Austria to switch his international allegiance from England. Despite having played 24 times for England’s youth teams, Chukwuemeka has been offered the opportunity to represent Austria, where he was born to Nigerian parents before moving to England at a young age. The 19-year-old has made 12 appearances for Chelsea this season, but is yet to score and has played less than four hours of Premier League football. However, he has already made his England U20s debut and played six times for Ian Foster’s side. Ralf Rangnick, the manager of Austria’s national team, is keen to develop young players and believes Chukwuemeka could make an instant impact.
