Chelsea open to Bayern Munich signing Tuchel’s top transfer priority

Date:

Bayern Munich manager Thomas Tuchel has reportedly identified Chelsea midfielder Mateo Kovacic as his top transfer target for the summer. The German coach is said to be unhappy with the squad he inherited and is already thinking about reinforcements for next season. Tuchel is keen to bring in a new number six who can sit in front of the defence, provide tenacity in the tackle, and protect and carry the ball. Although Bayern have already signed RB Leipzig’s Konrad Laimer, he does not fit the profile Tuchel is looking for. Chelsea are willing to let Kovacic leave this summer as talks over a renewal have hit a stalemate and he only has one year left on his contract. Incoming Chelsea manager Mauricio Pochettino has already made a new number six one of his own top targets, which suggests he is not planning to hang on to Kovacic.
