Reece James set to return for Chelsea’s clash against Arsenal
Chelsea are set to receive a much-needed boost ahead of their Premier League clash against Arsenal this weekend, with defender Reece James expected to return from injury. The 21-year-old has been out of action for the last seven weeks due to a hamstring strain, and his return could not come at a better time for the Blues.
James has endured an injury-hit campaign so far this term, having served a one-match suspension for verbally abusing a match official after a 1-0 defeat to Aston Villa in September. He has since been working on his rehabilitation from the hamstring strain and, with Marc Gusto currently serving a ban, Mauricio Pochettino is desperate to have James back.
The good news for Chelsea is that James is closing in on a return and is expected to be fit for the visit of the Gunners. Mikel Arteta’s side are flying high in the Premier League and went joint-top of the table with rivals Tottenham after beating Manchester City before the international break.
Chelsea trail Arsenal by nine points, having beaten Burnley 4-1 in their last outing. The Blues will be hoping that James’ return can help them close the gap on their London rivals and move up the table.
James was made captain of Chelsea in the summer and has been an important part of the team since then. His return will be a huge boost for the Blues, who have been struggling for form in recent weeks.
The defender has been one of the standout performers for Chelsea this season and his return will give them a much-needed boost ahead of their clash against Arsenal. It remains to be seen whether he will be able to make an immediate impact on the team, but his presence will certainly be welcomed by Pochettino and his players.
