Premier League club Chelsea has been in talks with Fulham over a four-year ground share while Stamford Bridge is redeveloped. The club’s co-controlling owners, American billionaire Todd Boehly and Behdad Eghbali, are determined to make the stadium one of the best in the world by 2030. Chelsea has three options regarding its home ground: building on a new site, demolishing the existing stadium and rebuilding from scratch, or redeveloping Stamford Bridge. Demolishing the West London ground and building a new one in its place is emerging as the most likely option, at a cost of £2bn. A report suggests Chelsea could play its home games away from Stamford Bridge for four years, with Fulham’s Craven Cottage, Twickenham or Wembley as possible venues. Boehly has informally approached fellow American billionaire Shahid Khan, the Fulham owner, about using his club’s ground during that period. The majority of Chelsea’s Premier League matches could be played at Craven Cottage, with Champions League and category A top-flight fixtures held at Wembley or Twickenham.
