Date:

Chelsea suffered a humiliating defeat against London rivals Arsenal on Tuesday night, conceding three goals in the first half. The Blues were criticised for their lacklustre performance, with former Arsenal player Perry Groves branding them “pathetic” and “embarrassing”. Martin Odegaard scored twice for Arsenal, with Granit Xhaka delivering the same cross to the Norwegian on both occasions. Gabriel Jesus added a third goal for Arsenal after poor defending from Chelsea’s Kepa Arrizabalaga. Noni Madueke scored a consolation goal for Chelsea in the second half, but it was not enough to prevent a 3-1 defeat. The result leaves Chelsea in 12th place in the Premier League, just nine points above the relegation zone.
