Manchester United Offer £50m for Mason Mount as Chelsea Counter Proposal
Manchester United have reportedly tabled a new £50 million bid to Chelsea for Mason Mount, after their initial offer of £40m was rejected by the Blues. The west London club have placed an initial £70m valuation on the England international, who has just one year left on his contract.
Chelsea Counter Proposal
According to The Athletic, United have returned with a proposal of £45m plus a further £5m in add-ons for the midfielder. But the report claims that Chelsea have sent a counter proposal of £60m up front and an additional £5m in add-ons. It’s also claimed that an agreement between the two clubs is ‘edging closer’.
United Weigh Up Declan Rice Move
Manchester United are also weighing up whether to enter the race for West Ham captain Declan Rice. Arsenal have already seen two bids rejected for Rice as West Ham continue to hold out for a transfer fee in excess of £100m. United are willing to offset the cost by offering either Scott McTominay or Harry Maguire as part of the deal, although both players would need to agree to a move to West Ham.
Chelsea Close to Selling Kai Havertz to Arsenal
Chelsea, meanwhile, are on the verge of selling Kai Havertz to Arsenal. The Premier League runners-up have agreed a £65m deal with Chelsea for the Germany international and a medical is now set to be scheduled.
Conclusion
It appears that Manchester United are determined to sign Mason Mount this summer, and they have now improved their offer for the midfielder. Chelsea are still holding out for a higher fee, but an agreement between the two clubs is reportedly edging closer. Meanwhile, United are also considering entering the race for West Ham captain Declan Rice, while Chelsea are close to selling Kai Havertz to Arsenal.
