Chelsea could spend another £180m before September as Blues push to sign Frenkie de Jong, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, Wesley Fofana and Cesare Casadei

Chelsea could yet splash another £180million before the end of the transfer window as the club continue to chase a number of big-money deals.

Following the arrival of new co-owner Todd Boehly this summer, the Blues have spent around £160m to land Raheem Sterling, Kalidou Koulibaly, Marc Cucurella and Carney Chukwuemeka.

However, it has still been a disappointing window, with Chelsea missing out on numerous targets.

Following the exits of Antonio Rudiger and Andreas Christensen on free transfers, plus the return of Romelu Lukaku to Inter Milan, the Blues were beaten to Raphinha and Jules Kounde by Barcelona.

But with three weeks left to get deals over the line, Chelsea are not done yet.

talkSPORT understands the Premier League giants are pushing to sign Frenkie de Jong, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, Wesley Fofana and Cesare Casadei.

Manchester United have spent three months trying to sign De Jong and agreed a £72m deal with Barcelona, but Chelsea are now confident of hijacking the move.

However, the Dutch midfielder is still owed £17m in deferred wages and Barca’s ongoing financial situation could yet cause a stumbling block.

talkSPORT transfer guru Alex Crook said: “Chelsea are confident of agreeing a fee with Barcelona for De Jong, a player who has been on Man United’s radar since the beginning of May.

“That’s when negotiations started. If United don’t get this deal done, that’s embarrassing.

“It’s embarrassing for John Murtough and Richard Arnold, two big wigs at United who flew over to Spain to get the deal done a few weeks ago.

“If De Jong ends up at a Premier League rival, I think United lose a lot of face.

“I was told we should know more on De Jong in the next 24 hours, progress will be made today.”

Meanwhile, Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel is pushing to sign his ex-Borussia Dortmund striker Aubameyang, who only left Arsenal for the Nou Camp in January.

With the 33-year-old no longer part of Barca’s plans following the signing of Robert Lewandowski, it is understood the Blues could snap him up for around £12m and Tuchel wants Boehly to formalise the club’s interest with a bid.

However, there will be nothing cut-price about Chelsea’s move for Leicester defender Wesley Fofana.

After two bids for the French centre-back were rejected, the latest worth in excess of £70m, the Blues are expected to table £85m, which would represent a world-record fee for a defender.

Crook added: “It’s been a difficult summer for Chelsea. But you can’t accuse Todd Boehly of lacking ambition.

“They’re still very keen to sign Fofana, we are expected a world-record bid for a centre-back.”

Finally, Chelsea are also being linked with a £12m move for Inter Milan’s highly-rated midfielder Cesare Casadei.

The 19-year-old Italian is also rumoured to be on Arsenal’s radar.
