Chelsea want to sign Man City forward Raheem Sterling in the summer transfer window.

The Blues are expected to loan £97.5million striker back to Inter Milan with a replacement needed.

The man to take his place could well be the England international who has just one year left on his deal at the Etihad Stadium.

Journalist Gianluca Di Marzio has reported that Blues boss Thomas Tuchel is a big fan of the 27-year-old.

The main issue with the transfer is likely to be the pricetag, especially with his current contract up next summer.

Di Marzio reports £35m could get the deal over the line but Man City could want more.

He tweeted: “Update: @ChelseaFC are now confident to close #Sterling deal from @ManCity. Transfer fee could be around £35millions.”

Sterling scored 13 Premier League goals last season and created five as Pep Guardiola’s men won the title by one point.

Chelsea finished 19 points behind City and are looking to decrease the gap with a smart transfer window.

Signing Sterling would weaken City’s depth, despite the arrival of superstar striker Erling Haaland and improve the Blues’ attacking options.

Lukaku was their top scorer in all competitions last season as he netted 15 times but it was midfielder Mason Mount who outscored his teammates in the Premier League with 11 goals.

Sterling has hit double-figure league goals in his last five seasons and would prove a better fit than Lukaku who, as an out-and-out centre-forward struggled to fit into Tuchel’s tactics.

Chelsea are also keen on signing centre-back Jules Kounde as they look to bolster a backline weakened by the exits of Andreas Christensen and Antonio Rudiger.

Meanwhile, former Blue Nathan Ake, also at Man City, is another player liked by the hierachy, according to reports.
